Why do I hate red (clothes)?

I don't hate red per se. I can enjoy looking at the colour because red is certainly a beautiful colour. It's cheerful, energetic, gives you a ready-to-go vibe, and so on. For some unknown reasons, however, I can never bring myself to wear red. For the longest time, I've been stumped for the reason. Like, it doesn't make sense!

I bought or took red-coloured clothes a couple of times and almost every single time, I'd touched it and put it back. Almost. Every. Single. Time! Like, if there are 100 attempts, only 1 or 2 get through. That's how rare it is. 

The very few times I managed to put it on, I would either take it off after a few minutes OR I would feel uncomfortable, extremely uncomfortable the whole time I'm wearing it.

I tried to google it but I found none that provides a satisfactory answer. I also tried ChatGPT but again, the same disappointing result. 

They did provide me with one clue though. 

The colour I am uncomfortable with may represent something that I am uncomfortable with. And... that's it. I was stuck here for so many years with only that one clue.

It wasn't until a few minutes ago, when I was trying to declutter my closet and underwent the same problem with a red cloth again that I finally understand the reason.

I just hate to stand out. Red-coloured clothes stand out so much, they make me feel like a sore thumb. Nope. Just nope.

I don't know why it took me years to realize this. Seriously. It's kinda stupid. Or rather, I'm the one who is stupid ಠ◡ಠ

Why there are vernacular school in Malaysia? Why can't Malaysian Indian and Chinese abolish it?

Because they are the ones who demand it. The majority of the citizens want it to be abolished too but it has strong backups from the Chinese community who are well known to be the richest group in Malaysia even though they are part of the minority and as such have been misused by politicians to gain support from the Chinese community.

In the first place, the only reason they were created was to prepare the descendant of the Chinese immigrants back then, before the existence of Malaysia, to go back to their home country which is China.

But if you look at the answers here, most of them either are being forgetful on purpose or lack the knowledge of their own country. They FAILED to mention these little tidbits of history. They choose to fully blame other people instead. By the way, this is a common tactic adopted by many “Malaysian” Chinese/Indian when it comes to vernacular school or anything related to their own interests. They will not accept any blame but expertly deflect the blame to others.

The MAIN reason why they don’t want to go to the national school has nada to do with the quality of the school. The reasons are very racist in nature actually.

• The aboriginals of the country including the non-Malays have used Malay as their lingua franca since forever.
• And then the foreign invaders came.
• Under the last invader’s administration, the British, they used import Chinese and Indian immigrants from their respective country as workers.
• They also use the divide-and-conquer method to deal with the multi-ethnic society which is the main cause of extreme division in the wealth gap among them.
• As the Chinese are the ones who mostly live in main cities, have access to higher education, are the merchants, and so on, it is only natural that upon independence, they are the richest group in the nation even though they are the minority.
• The aboriginals where the Malays make up the majority are the poorest. Yes, the Sultan (king), and those of higher status might be rich but they are the very tiny minority. The rest are simply poor, lacking in education, lacking in opportunity. The middle-income group who used to be merchants, skilled workers, no longer exists thanks to the foreign invaders.
• Upon independence, due to the invader’s influence, English has become the lingua franca among the elites, which is to say, those with titles and those who are rich.
• Hence, upon independence, most of these Chinese/Indian immigrants and their descendants do not understand Malay and look down on Malay people (because most are poor) but they do understand English and look upon white people.
• However, in the end, Malay is still chosen to be the national language of Malaysia upon its existence as it is the language of the mass/majority/locals/aboriginals.
• As such, education in national schools is conducted in Malay.
• They do not like that.
• That’s why even now, many of them are still harping that the Malay language is useless, that they are ashamed of the lower quality of English among Malaysians (and no, they are not ashamed of the lower quality of THEIR Malay), that Mandarin is the language of the global, that Mandarin should replace Malay or at least made as one of the national languages of Malaysia, and so on.
• And yeah so, that’s the main reason why they want vernacular school. They don’t want Malay because they look down on it. They are proud of Mandarin and English because that’s apparently the language of the rich or the superior ones.

In Malaysia, aside from vernacular schools, there are national schools, national-Islamic schools, and Islamic schools. They are three different types of schools. Students of any religion go to national school, while I’m not aware of any non-Muslim students who choose to go to the latter two. There used to be missionary schools too but most if not all of them have been converted to national schools.

So I don’t know whether they are lying on purpose or honestly misunderstood the situation. Either way…

In Malaysia, it’s common among Muslims to either go to national school only, go to both national school and Islamic school, or go to national-Islamic school. +A No Tachiichi Manga Review

Hi! I haven't write a blog post in English here for a long time but there are too many comments of people hating the ending of this manga and none of a positive one so I thought those who thinks differently should make it known to balance the view.

And so, here it is.

Before that, I just want to say it has 13 chapters only. And, I have finished reading them all.

So, first thing first, it's an isekai. The main character is a young teenage girl from the modern Japan who accidently got summoned to another world with one of her school female idols. Unlike most mangas who say they feature ugly and average female main character, this one really looks her part. Like, I personally don't find her ugly BUT I can buy that she is less attractive than the others.

For example, there's no taking-the-glasses-off magic to make her a hidden beauty. Her dressing style is not better or worse than others so you can't blame the clothes either. Neither can you blame the title on acne, scar, or anything health related concern because she doesn't have any. However, with the way she is drawn, one would immediately notice she is not as beautiful as others, nor as graceful. We may not think she looks as ugly as the manga says she is BUT the description is not out of place as that description could be a synonym to someone who just doesn't fit that particular place's beauty standard and that's exactly what she is. As such, to most people, she is either average or ugly. And the best part is, she is at peace with herself and retains her original look at the end of the series.

I really like this point because unlike most mangas with this kind of female character (or so they say) I can truly relate to Satoki as I have the same experience as her. I've been considered beautiful, average, or ugly, by different people. I know how it feels to be treated not as kindly or plain ignored just because you don't fit someone's beauty standard especially men. It hurts. It hurts a lot. But, you get used to it, and you remain rational and happy because you accept yourself as you are.

Still, a lot of the readers hate most of the characters in this manga and rightly so. The guys especially, freely say and act however they want like she is not a fellow human with feelings. They are only sweet with her beautiful friend. Even so, even if the readers are angry at them for their careless attitude, it's hard to classify them as a bad person because they have lots of good points too and they still somewhat care for her. After all, if it's not for that particular attitude, they aren't that different from her new friend. She doesn't do sweet, with anyone, except when acting as the fake priestess.

The main character's way of thinking and attitude is on point too. I don't know about you but I can confidently say most of us, especially the truly average girls who don't expect much from others due to our looks, we are not going to fare any better if we are in her place. It can be depressing but this is also refreshing from a manga perspective because it's extremely realistic.

Just because you suddenly have a new power, doesn't mean the way you think, the way other people treat you, your personality, and the insecurities you have, are all going to suddenly change or disappear as well. For example, the main character (mc) does not expect anyone to save her. Why should she? As the reader, we know her master and the fake priestess cares for her, a lot, only because we can see everyone's point of view. But to her, all she can see is what's happening in front of her eyes and that is they casted her aside like nothing, none of them openly say or show that they care for her, and she's constantly barraged with careless remarks and attitudes.

So, all in all, the new world is full of potential but by the time her master is trying to be more honest, it's game over. With nothing to feel secure about and no one to make you feel safe and wanted, it makes sense to want to leave as soon as possible in a good note. Hence, the "unsatisfying" ending.

Had she had the open support like her friend had, the ending could have been totally different. But as it is, they don't deserve her, and this ending is perfectly realistic considering everything.

By the way, many readers say she's just making excuses not to take charge of her own life even though she has the magical power to do so. I say, their heads are in clouds. She's young, average, middle class, straightforward, no acting and political skill, no fighting skills, zero knowledge about the new world, no mentor to help her to live on her own in the new environment, she has no connections, she has no idea how to go home... so like, aren't you expecting too much from her here? Even if she manage to run, what else is she supposed to do after that? Be a homeless, scavenge for food, run away every time she sees a soldier? Even if she uses the absurd magical weapon to fight, she still needs to sleep and as she's not sporty at all, it's just too easy for her to be recaptured.

TLDR: I like it. A 5 out of 5. And, I wish the author would make a spin-off with a different ending where she is treated better and continues to live there forever because I kind of ship her with either the master or the battle-crazed demon <3

My answer (31 October 2019):
That’s exactly the reason why the inheritance needs to be distributed.

Yes, the widow and two daughters may need the money to take care of themselves BUT it is also the job of the brothers of the deceased to take care of them (the widow and daughters). As such, the widow and her daughters shouldn’t worry about their livelihood.

Other than that, the sisters of the deceased may need the money as well as it is/was common for women to not working a salaried job (being housewives) and thus not having much to their own names. So there is that as well.

Still, if you’re the brother or sister of said deceased, you have the option to not accept the inheritance. You can choose to not accept the inheritance if you want.

Too bad, it’s a common story of how too many brothers and male family members of a deceased husband failed to realize why they’re getting that inheritance and just abandon his widow and kids. This is the reason why many Muslim women nowadays feel the inheritance distribution rules are unfair.

Anyway, to answer your question…

Is it necessary? Yes, it is, IF the deceased didn't leave any will or Hibah contract AND you can't get the other beneficiaries to consider your circumstances.

Yes.

Do I believe men and women have the right to walk down the street drunk and naked at any time of the hour?

NOPE.

Nope to public nuisance and indecency.

I do not like being around drunk people AT ALL. They smell bad, they can’t be reasoned with, and I absolutely hate it when people use being drunk as an excuse for doing stupid or bad things like rape, battery, or rabid dog in need of castration or chastity belt. All in all, please be drunk somewhere else like the pub or your own house. Kindly don’t bother others. I don’t want to feel the need to be wary whenever I walk up the street.

I also don’t need to see your body more than the necessary if you’re not my spouse. Like I literally don’t need to see your pussy or dick and it would be disgusting if I’m forced to see that without my consent.

So if I see you do that, and I can report that to the authority (as in, if it is against the law), then I will do so. As such, if the police officers have to physically restrain you or some force to get your cooperation, then I do not have any problem with that even if it gets you arrested and/or hospitalized.

My answer (29 April 2015):
I don't know about the other country but I live in Malaysia and I'm pretty sure most Muslims wear Hijab (head cover). Niqab and Burqa are part of Arabic culture but they are not mandatory for Muslims.

The point is to cover the Aurat (parts not allowed to be shown in public), not what kind of clothes people are wearing.

That's probably why the Muslim Arabs are seen to be wearing Niqab and Burqa much more than other Muslims. The Muslims in Europe are mostly from Arab origin or Arab inspired, isn't it? That's probably why there are more Muslims wearing Niqab and Burqa in Europe compared to Muslims in South East Asia.

They got it right. It’s like stealing or robbing.

Just because you got the opportunity to do so, doesn’t mean it’s right for you to act on it. Sure, the owner might be a tad careless by leaving the door to their house or car unlocked, or by wearing expensive jewelry while visiting your house. But in no way are they inviting you to be a shithead. I mean, have they ever said something like, "Please steal my stuff", or, "Please rob me"? NO! Of course not!

So if you choose to be a shithead, that is totally on you. YOU choose to steal. YOU are the one who chooses to rob someone.

That's no one else's fault but yours and only yours.

P/S: Those who are extremely poor or in an extremely bad situation, please chills okay. The shithead bit only applies to those without extremely good reason to do bad things only okay. After all, when it comes to rape... unless someone is putting a gun on your head forcing you to rape someone right at that moment, you absolutely have no good reason at all to rape someone.

When it comes to culture, do NOT imitate BEFORE you understand what you're doing

I was checking out the thread in my favorite Facebook group and wow, some of the Austronesian (especially the Maori) were angry to see this:

Understandable... First of all, this women is wearing a MAN's Ta Moko (tattoo). And secondly, ONLY men poke out tongues. So yeah.... this is a MAJOR faux pas.

While some people might laugh at this, people of where this woman is ripping the culture from are probably not one of them. There are actual meanings behind those tattoo and gesture for the Maori. What she's doing on the other hand is like mocking the Maori for being what they are i.e. she's not taking their culture seriously which is offensive.

One of my friends said, if the woman is in Maori village, she'd probably get beaten up for being so rude. Yes, my friend is a Maori. I'm pretty sure she said this because she's a hot head, not because it's true. Even if she really mean it... well.. I don't condone violence but I can't really say the woman in above photo doesn't deserve it either.

Yeah, A BULLY. A bully does not have to use violence to be recognized as a bully. All they need to do is causing someone to be extremely depressed or angry to the point the person might blow up a fuse and start doing extreme things like for example.... Oh, I don't know... killing others or committing suicide?

But I suppose it's alright to some people to let those bullies continue being abusive as long they didn't use physical violence. And I suppose it's okay to these people too if the victims just kill themselves instead of the abusers because hey, it's their 'fault' anyway. Why do they have to be so 'sensitive'?

In case someone missed my point, I'm just saying that I don't agree with people like X who thinks it's not wrong to be rude/stupid but it's wrong for the victims of those rude/stupid people to retaliate against them. That's like saying it's okay to slap someone but not okay for that person to slap you back! And please remember.... words and actions hurt as much as physical violence so to make exceptions for those two are just not right.

Ehem, back on the topic. Ignorance is not an excuse but like I said, I don't think the Maori would really beat her up. They might be angry but they're reasonable people. If they knew she didn't do it on purpose to rile them up, she'd probably get a good scolding and education. That's all.

Signs you were born and raised in Malaysia

1. You cringe every time you hear someone mispronounce ‘orangutan’ or ‘durian’, but are much too polite to ever correct them.

I'm rewriting this part because previously, it sounds like I was rambling.

Okay, some people do care about that kind of stuff but to make it a Malaysian stereotype? I don't think so. I mean, if you're foreigners, whether it's offline or online, a lot of Malaysians just don't give a damn about your pronunciation or grammar as long they can understand what you're trying to say. We tend to give a lot of leeway on you lot, just because you're not locals.


2. You’re both proud and embarrassed of your Malaysian accent. Your sentences are sprinkled with ‘lahs’ and you know it’s OK lah.

Gah, I'm rewriting this part because I just realized that the writer meant using la or lah while speaking in English. My previous opinion was based on Malaysians talking in Bahasa Melayu (Malay).

NOT TRUE! Malaysians generally use a lot of 'la' or 'lah' while speaking in Malay but the only group in Malaysia who use a lot of 'la' or 'lah' while speaking in English are the Malaysian Chinese. Well, not all of them of course. Just, a very big number of them :/


3. You exercise the ‘hand of God’ while crossing the road. You put your hand up with your palm facing the oncoming traffic and watch cars magically slow down as you walk.

My opinion doesn't change but I choose to rewrite this part because I feel like I was not coherence enough to explain what I really mean. Sorry! :P

While this is true, most Malaysians cross the road whenever we feel safe or know that the vehicles would be able to slow down and stop in time while we're crossing the road. We raise our hand while crossing or after that ONLY to say thanks. We rarely use our hand to say, 'stop'.

So, I'm not sure if this should be considered as a stereotype.


4. You call no one by their actual name. The waiter is a ‘boss’. Any older man or older woman is simply ‘uncle’ and ‘aunty’. Because of this, you never know your friends’ parents’ names.

Too true! Even with stranger, we just say hi/hello, and... just talk about whatever. At the end of the brief meeting, we still don't know each other name.

A guy (regardless of age): 'Encik' (Mr.)
A woman (regardless of age): 'Cik' (Miss) <- unless they asked to be called, 'Puan' (Mrs.).

A much older man: 'Pak Cik' (uncle)

Someone of similar age: .... Honestly? I have no idea. I just... say hi and try to talk in a way that there's no need to mention that person's name at all. If we don't know the person's name but need to call him/her from afar, we'll just call him/her by his/her feature like, "blue skirt", "black scarf", stuff like that. I don't know if that's the norm in Malaysia but it's certainly is the norm among people around me.

5. You watch TV shows from at least four foreign countries, usually including Korean dramas, Hong Kong TVB series, Venezuelan telenovelas, British comedy series, American reality TV, and Indonesian soap operas.

Yeah, I remember growing up watching whatever shows on TV. Same goes to people I know.

Huh??? Just no. It's fun but no. It's like learning the Children songs. It's fun but my friends and I, we do not care about showcasing whatever.

Is it a real cheat for My Tribe?

I put one of the villagers onto the food pile and once his/her status changed to 'eating', I give him/her Star. The skill that would be improved would always be Agriculture. I've tried this a couple of times already but not continuously so I don't know if I'm just lucky or what. Either way, this helps me to solve the Unhealthy Bush problem quickly. So yeah... you guys might want to give it a try.

I'm following http://www.casualgameguides.com/games/guide/game_guide.cfm/My_Tribe-Walkthrough/Cheats-1/game_id-3657/ for tips but it doesn't mention about this. I'd like to experiment just to make sure of the result but... that would require me to 'waste' my Stars. I don't need another Agriculture Legendary right now so... yeah. Not at the moment.

I wonder if there's similar trick to create Science Legendary and Construction Legendary. I'm on my way to solve the Big Red Rock puzzle.

Christmas, Deepavali and Chinese New Year

I have always been somewhat reluctant to wish my non-Muslim friends and acquaintances Merry Christmas, Happy Deepavali, Happy Chinese New Year or any similar religious/cultural related greetings. The most I can do is to wish them a happy holiday. So I don't mind if they didn't wish me Happy Aidil Fitri or Happy Aidil Adha either. Just a happy holiday will do.

I wouldn't claim that I know in depth about the celebrations to say it's good or bad for my faith but it is safe to say that I know Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ which is not a problem because Jesus is one of our Prophets, Deepavali is a celebration of good winning against evil which is not a problem either because.. uh, who would have any problem with that? And Chinese New Year is just a new year celebration according to the Chinese Calendar. 

I guess when all I know about the events are the basic, it's easy to say that there should be no problem for me or any Muslim to wish non-Muslim friends and acquaintances a Happy 'Event Name'. But then, why does it feel so hard for me to actually say/write that? I don't get it either but I think it has something to do with what I didn't know about the event. I mean the real reasons, sentiments and teaching behind it. If I don't know that, how can I say I agree or disagree with the event?

But if that's the case, why didn't I try to learn more about them? Easy. I'm simply not interested. I have never been a festive type of person. I prefer a quiet celebration of Aidil Fitri and Aidil Adha which I bother to learn what the events are all about only because I'm a Muslim. So what makes you think I'd be interested to learn about more events especially the ones I don't feel related to?

Yeah, yeah, I'm a cold person. I'm not sorry for not sharing the same sentiments with you guys (my non-Muslim friends, acquaintances, blog readers). But just so you know, this doesn't mean that I like it if anyone especially among the Muslims threaten you guys to stop celebrating your religious or cultural events. As long you don't force others to celebrate it with you, I don't think we have the right to bother you guys either.

I'm free to practice my religion, you are free to practice your religion. I think that's the most important thing, not the whether Muslims can or cannot or should or should not wish Happy 'Whatever Event' to non-Muslims or vice-versa. So with all that said, I wish you guys a very happy holiday during Christmas :)

How To Set Up MobileTemplate by nhuang on Joomla 3.0

The developer has provided the official instruction on their website (http://www.nhuang.com/joomla/joomla-mobile-template.html) BUT I have a hard time to understand it so I write my own instruction to help others who might have the same problem.

Just so you know, the layout of my mobile website after setting it up with MobileTemplate is like this.. First you will see the title of the website. It is automatically set up by the template. I didn't do anything to configure it. Next to the title, there's an icon you can click to bring out or close the menu (mobile_nav). Below these two, you'll see a banner which states that this is the mobile version of my official website (content_top). After that you'll see a list of articles. I didn't configure this so I have no idea how the articles are selected. Lastly, there's an empty spot at the bottom (footer).

So... how did I do it?

1. Download and installed it like usual
• Download here: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/mobile/mobile-display/24779 
• Then go to Extensions > Extension Manager to install
2. Enable the plugin
• Go to Extensions > Plugin Manager
• Find a plugin called System - Mobile Template
• Enable the plugin
3. Create a new menu set just for your mobile site
• Go to Menus > Menu Manager > Add New Menu
4. Create a new module for that menu
• Go to Extensions > Module Manager > New > Menu
• Set the position to mobile_nav
• To be safe, name the module as mobile_nav too. I haven't got the time to properly test it so I don't know if the name matter at all or not but to be safe, I just do it.
5. If you want to display a slideshow, image or something under the name of your website and menus, create a new module for that
• Go to Extensions > Module Manager > New > Custom HTML or whatever module
• Set the position to content_top
• Again, to be safe, name the module as content_top too. I honestly think there's no need to name the module whatever you want but I was in a hurry when I set it up so I want to avoid any possible problem. Now that I have some spare time, I feel too lazy to test if it actually matters :P
6. If you want to put something at the bottom of your mobile website, create another module
• Go to Extensions > Module Manager > New > Whatever module
• Set the position to footer
7. Okay, you are done :)

This is just the basic k. If you need more, please refer to the official nhuang website.

Di bawah tajuk dan ikon menu, anda akan nampak sepanduk (banner) yang menyatakan ini adalah laman sesawang rasmi saya versi mudah alih (content_top). Selepas tu anda akan nampak satu senarai artikel. Bahagian ni saya tak usik apa-apa, memang automatik ditentukan oleh acuan jadi saya pun tak tahu artikel apa yang dipaparkan. Akhir sekali, ada satu ruang kosong di bahagian paling bawah laman (footer).

Jadi... macam mana saya buat?

1. Muat turun dan pasang macam biasa
• Muat turun di sini: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/mobile/mobile-display/24779 
• Kemudian pergi ke Extensions > Extension Manager untuk pasang
2. Aktifkan 'plugin'
• Pergi ke Extensions > Plugin Manager
• Cari 'plugin' bernama System - Mobile Template

3. Tambah kumpulan menu (menu set) khas untuk laman mudah alih
• Pergi ke Menus > Menu Manager > Add New Menu
4. Tambah modul (module) untuk kumpulan menu tersebut
• Pergi ke Extensions > Module Manager > New > Menu
• Tetapkan kedudukan modul di mobile_nav
• Untuk elak sebarang masalah, namakan juga modul tersebut sebagai mobile_nav. Panduan rasmi yang kata, bukan saya kata k. Masa saya pasang modul ni memang waktu tu tengah kelam-kabut jadi saya tak ada masa untuk uji panduan tu betul ke tidak (bahagian ni la). Sekarang dah ada masa, rasa macam malas pulak hehehe.... You want to know why SOME 'Malaysian' Chinese are called 'pendatang' in Malaysia?

I have mentioned before in my post that when Malaysians especially the Malays call the Chinese as 'pendatang', most of the time, they are not being racist. You want to know why? Look below. This is just ONE of the MANY MANY examples!

Which hole did you come from? This has been going on since LAST YEAR! And watch your mouth.. er, hands! How dare you call this practice a DISGRACE and RIDICULOUS?! Yeah, it's not a norm in our country YET but since the effect is great to raise patriotic spirit when implemented in other countries like Thailand, why not do it in Malaysia too? So again, which hole did you come from? Don't say Malaysia, because I don't see you as a Malaysian YET!

Doesn't mean to demean Negaraku? Right... Is that why you call the act of respecting the national anthem a disgrace? Is that why you are ashamed to show off how patriotic Malaysians are to others?

THIS is the type of Chinese the Malaysians had in mind when they are calling some of the Chinese as 'pendatang'. These people want to be called Malaysians, want to be accepted as Malaysians, BUT they act like a foreigner (pendatang)! But most foreigners are more polite and respectful to this country compared to them. So not only do they act like a foreigner, they are bloody rude foreigners as well! The only reason this is played out as a racist issue is so these very same people can shut people mouth from calling it as it is.

So people, please remember this. While money is important, non patriotic rich people are NOT important enough to be considered as citizens of ANY nation. That's why some Chinese are called 'pendatang' even though they're rich and 'well-educated' while other Chinese are accepted as Malaysians without any problem.

And that is also why Malaysian Chinese shouldn't automatically feel offended when some of your Chinese idols, family members, friends or acquaintances were called 'pendatang' and asked to leave Malaysia. The word applies to the individual, not all of you. When people call Mr. Chong Chieng Jen a 'pendatang' and tell him to leave the country, they are NOT referring to Malaysian Chinese. While racist Malaysians who hate all Chinese in general do exist, they're very small in percentage compared to the percentage of non-racist people who just hate this specific type of 'pendatang'.

By the way, I do know that the number non-patriotic people regardless of race in Malaysia are steadily on the rise. BUT, based on how many similar cases came up lately and constantly done by the same group of people, I think it's safe to say that this is the reason why a lot of Chinese are considered as the rude and unwanted foreigners compared to people of other races (who are not Aboriginals) in Malaysia.

Another important thing to note is that, while it's true that non-patriotic Malays and other Aboriginals like the Iban, and Kadazan are not attacked with the word 'pendatang', it is simply because they DID NOT came from somewhere else (don't say Indonesia, it only shows how much you DIDN'T know about Austronesian people). Do NOT think even for a second that they're treated like they're above non-Aboriginals when it comes to things like this. These Aboriginal people are simply known as 'penderhaka' or traitors by Malaysians.

If you still don't get it, being called a 'pendatang' is the same as being called 'penderhaka' and people call you that because you're not loyal to Malaysia. It has nothing to do with race, tribe, whatsoever. The end.

My thought on this:

While I was watching the video, I keep on wondering.. why did they choose 'pendatang' as a racist comment for the Chinese? Because as far as I know, the prejudice people have of the Chinese is that they're greedy, 'diberi betis, nak paha' kind of people, and money is their God, they would do anything for money including cheating. I'm not saying that all or most of them are like that but if anyone is to say anything racist about the Chinese, it would be those, not 'pendatang'.

But if they want to choose that word anyway, why not use the same remark for the Indians? We know that both Chinese and Indians mass migrated to this land during the colonial era. so why they didn't use 'pendatang' for BOTH Chinese and Indians?

And then there is that fact where lots of people from Bangladesh, Vietnam, Philippines and more, live in Malaysia nowadays but no one insult them with the words 'pendatang'. How do you want me to believe that the word 'pendatang' is a racist remark only used on the Chinese? If that's true, then you have to wonder why Malaysians are okay with other people, can accept them no matter what backgrounds EXCEPT for the Chinese, isn't it?

Well, that's going to open another can of worm which I'm not going to elaborate right now because that's not the point of this post. But to put it simply, I know for a fact that IF anyone especially Malays ever insult some of the Chinese as 'pendatang', most of the time, it has nothing to do with them being racist.

So yeah, I agree with Azmi Arshad that it's very suspicious on why they specifically choose that word on that video. Read his full comment below.

First of all, I commend all those in front of the camera. Syabas to them. (The nasty and racist comments we see in FMT, TMI, MKini and FB are a different story of course).

Well, let me just highlight some of the clues:

1. Marina Mahathir is excited by the video. Note: Marina is a Bersih supporter, Comango supporter and a pro-LBGT activist.

2. Marina Mahathir says “Take that all you racists!” (Actually who is she talking to specifically?) Note: That’s Opposition speak. Liberals and anti Malay institutions tend to shout out ‘racists’ to (supposedly) ‘racists’ (even to those who are not racists). Lim Guan Eng and other DAP leaders talk the same way.

3. The title of the video is “Are Malaysians racist?”. Note: ‘Malaysians’. I’ll come back to this later.

4. Participants reject money offers to utter racist remarks – Really… Would you have accepted the offer?

5. Malays are lazy / bodoh, Chinese are pendatang and Indians are pemabuk / smelly – Really seriously? ‘Lazy’ and ‘smelly’ are everyday words and are obviously not attributed to their heritage. They are however trying to make ‘pendatang’ taboo. Back to this later also.

6. PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil tweeted that he cried at the 3 minute mark. MMO even showed a screenshot of his tweet. Another attempt to make you reach for tissue. Note: PKR.

7. DAP Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim said he loved the video. Note: DAP.

8. The video is publicised by Malay Mail Online with all the accolades. MMO is of course another pro Opposition TMI. (MMO’s anti malay Sacred Cowlumnist Erna Mahyuni has blocked me on Twitter and Facebook).

Yes the video smells (pardon the pun) of Opposition. Then you tell me in the words of PPS chief Phee Boon Boh: SO WHAT? SO WHAT?

Sabar. Sabar. Don’t get emotional. Remember that Lim Guan Eng’s ‘touching’ speech in the last elections was also a tear jerker and I didn’t fall for it. I don’t know about you guys but whenever the Opposition comes up with anything touching I feel like I’m being touched in the wrong places.

Okay, my take on this Dappywood drama:

(a) Notice that they are trying to portray that Malaysian individuals are not racists. Why? Well, if the man on the street is not uttering racist remarks then who needs the SEDITION ACT / AKTA HASUTAN? Repeal it! (The timing of the release of this video is also pretty uncanny). Don't even dream of bringing back the ISA of course.

(b) One other thing then… if the people are not racist then WHO is racist? After all, Opposition leaders and supporters are wailing racism all over the media. If not Malaysian citizens on the street, who then are they accusing of being racist? Siapa lagi… the Government, UMNO, ISMA, PERKASA, JAKIM, JAIS, UiTM and PDRM lahhhh. The Opposition have never dared to say that Malays are racists (and indeed we are not). Whenever the Malays voice out strongly against DAP provocation, DAP leaders and supporters will falsely attribute the dissenting voices to the Malay/Islamic institutions (Radicals! Extremists!). They refuse to acknowledge that these Malay insitutions are the voices of the Malay population (save those ultra supporters of DAP, PKR and PASMA of course).

(c) They want ‘PENDATANG’ to be eradicated from our vocabulary because of its historical truth. I would not call a fellow Chinese friend pendatang to agitate him or to insult him. My great great grandfather was a pendatang. That doesn’t mean, however, that I should not be allowed to use the word ‘pendatang’ in the right historical context (as did the ISMA president, who was then wrongly charged for sedition). Using the word should not automatically make me a racist. I won’t accuse you of being racist if you call me bodoh and lazy although I can’t guarantee my good friend Ramesh Rao Krishnan Naidu won’t punch you in the face if you call him smelly. In fact I’ll punch you too to defend the integrity of my Indian friend but we won’t call you racist.

(d) By the way, it’s not okay to utter derogatory remarks (bodoh, lazy, smelly, pemabuk) but why should it be okay to utter expletives? Maybe they want the youth to have greater freedom of speech or maybe it’s just to add drama. One day a policeman may no longer be allowed to arrest a traffic offender for the latter saying "Eff you" to him after being handed a speeding ticket. (Some of you have read about bro Hassan Melayu's reaction towards a bangsat who swore at a policeman recently and ended up in an ambulance. One chap was also penalised for writing 'Pu..mak' on his summons for the benefit of the policeman who cited him).

Also don’t be surprised if the next video is a bunch of DAP Chinese selected at random expressing their love for Raja-Raja Melayu. Even I would have to grab a tissue. (If the producers want to impress me, have a video asking the Malays in Penang and Selangor whether DAP leaders and supporters are racist).

(P/S – Since some people like to take things literally I have to qualify to say that I do have a few DAP friends who are not racist. A few also are merely misinformed or misled by DAP leaders).

Even though I feel uncomfortable and suspicious of this video, I think it's a great video if we just accept it on face value. We should make and share more videos like this especially during Merdeka celebration day and Malaysia Day :)

I think it would be very interesting if we also include other Bumiputeras like The Semai, Jakun, Bajau, Dayak and Kadazan and make it Hetalia style :D

I know in Malay one or both of them are called Kucai. But, I couldn't tell if we have different names for Chives and Garlic Chives. According to the writer of WARNA-WARNI KEHIDUPAN blog though, we call both of them as Kucai but the one we usually use in Malaysia is Allium tuberosum (Garlic Chives).

Hating On Facebook and Detoxing The Addiction

At first, I was happy because I thought I'm not alone in the sense of 'I can live happily even without Facebook' but after reading the whole post, it makes me wonder... They hate Facebook because it makes them less happy but they can't stop using it because they love it so much? O_o

It doesn't make sense. I mean, whose fault is that? Definitely NOT Facebook but rather, the users, isn't it? To answer some of the pet peeves mentioned in the list and some of my personal pet peeves,

• I don't care about the adverts, so I just ignore them like they don't exist.
• I don't care about the bad words people often use to show how 'intelligent and successful they are compared to others', so I either reprimand (for lack of better word in my mind) them, or completely ignore them.
• I don't care about the oh, I'm so beautiful/cute/sexy/handsome Selfie whatever so I just unfollow whoever tends to do that without providing other good information I'm looking for.
• I don't care about those apps, those game apps especially, so I just block the game feeds.
• I don't care about people I don't know add me for whatever reasons but there's no need to be rude, so I just accept the invitation and then put them in appropriate friend group and unfollow them so they don't see what I don't want them to see and I don't have to see what I don't care to see.
• I don't care to see whatever Facebook notification in my email inbox, so I just disable them like totally disable them that if I ever got an Amnesia I'd probably have no idea I have an account there.
• I don't care about stalkers so I set my posts so people who I want to share it with are the only ones who can see it.
• I don't care to socialize with others most of the time (most of the time I'm on the prowl for information, not to chat), so I ignore the personal message notification and the comments until I feel like replying.

So yeah... I pretty much ignore whatever stuff I don't want to see on Facebook. Why waste my time and energy hating when I could have spend them while enjoying all the good stuff like

• Connecting with family members and friends who live far away
• Rediscover old friends
• Being updated with all the current news before they actually came out on the official media
• Sharing simple tips and useful information updates relevant to people' daily life
• Discovering great ideas
• Relaxing with eye candies like the arts ;D
• and.. more!

Seriously, who didn't find it awesome?

It's too easy to become addicted though. Life is more than just Facebooking all day. So whenever I start having those addiction syndromes like checking for updates every single minutes, assignments start piling up like crazy, and so on, I know it's time for a detox and this is how I did it:

Just because someone is being mean to me, doesn't mean I should react in the same way. I mean, what would I get from that? I love peace and quiet. Verbal fights are exhausting and not fun at all. Most people would get tired if there's no response anyway so that's a plus for not fighting.

I don't get into physical fights though so I don't know what will I do if that ever happen. But, I doubt I will let the bully to bully me for long. If I can defend myself without calling the cops then, I would. If not, I still know my rights.

Some advice about communicating with a quiet person

That sounds like me and if he truly acts like me then, I don't think he's lying when he says he like talking to you. Although he doesn't contribute much into the conversation, he can probably enjoy it just by listening to your thoughts and opinions. For a quiet person, even saying just a few words like 'uhuh', 'yeah', 'you're right' and so on here and there, already feels like we have contribute to the whole conversation. It's not him being selfish or uncaring, it's just his personality.

So, yeah... You might think it's boring but I am quite sure that it's not boring for him at all to spend time with you. I have no idea how you can make him talk more since I'm a quiet person myself.

By the way, if he really don't care about you, he would just go away without saying anything or if he's the polite type then he would try his best to make excuses to make you go away or not starting any kind of conversation right away. Since he didn't do that, I'm pretty sure that that is not the case.

If you truly want to know if he pays attention to you or not, how about testing him by asking him or have conversation with him based on the information you have share with him in previous conversations?

P/S: I'm only talkative when I have strong opinions about something or have a lot of knowledge about it. Most of the time though, being neutral or lacking information about the subject makes me feel like not saying anything at all.
