The Best Way To Cure Fever - Sweat It Out!!!

I got headache and almost got a fever today. So I do what I usually do - Sweat myself profusely!

No, it has nothing to do with Hot Chicken Soup or fold myself with blanket. I haven't got time nor skill to cook that soup. Fold myself with blanket and switch off the fan for the rest of day or night take too much time to work even with Panadol.

Instead, I exercised until my t-shirt is drenched with sweat. Gross but it works miracle ^^

Curing Fever or Cold
Okay, it depends on how bad it is. Small fever will be gone completely after a few minutes or hours. Bad fever takes a few days so I have to continue the sweaty workout everyday until it's gone and I might need to take Panadol too.

So what's the point of the exercise if I still have to take the drug?
Easy, I don't get headache, restless nights, sore throat, runny nose, become clingy or any other annoying things while having it. Cool, huh?

The catch is I have to do it before I actually get the fever or cold. I don't know if you're like me but usually I get sore throat, headache, cold sweat, weak body or combination of these a day or two before I get the fever. So I have to act fast as soon as I get the clue if possible.

Oh, and this tip works for most common non life threating but annoying illnesses too :)

Curing Headache
Sometimes, I got headache either simply because I am too inactive, stressed out or dehydrated (I sometimes forgot to drink tehehe..). So if drinking water doesn't help, sweaty workout is the best cure for me.

Curing Sore Throat and Dehydration (?)
Sometimes I drink enough water but my throat, mouth or body still feel dry or dehydrated. Maybe my body doesn't work properly because I am not an active person (I'm sitting in front of the computer most of the day.. and night). Exercise usually helps. I don't know why.

Same goes to stomach ache, gassy/bloating, and.. erm... constipation *blushes* though these must be included with eating more fiber and water. And uh... it doesn't work as well yet. I'm still looking for the correct diet..

Flashbacks
There are a lot of natural cures that doesn't involve exercise at all for these illnesses but when I live alone, I feel really lonely when there was no one to be with me during these moments. The cures works fine but they take a little bit too long to work for my liking. I often end up whimpering and crying like a lost puppy while waiting it out.

So the best alternative is preventing it from happening at all. I'm glad to say it works to this day. Hopefully I will never feel that loneliness ever again.

My way might not be the best though and there might be some repercussion after some time.

Have you tried this method? Does it work? Did you notice any side effect? Please tell me in your comment.

Edited:
Yeah, these tips are best done when you first notice the usual symptoms before you actually get a fever. It's definitely not recommended to do this when you are feeling wayyy too sick. That would be like looking for trouble. I mean, if you can't even stand or walk, how are you going to run without stumbling or hurting yourself?

Other than that, just a friendly reminder. There are methods or medicines that work for you and then there are some that don't but works for other people. Tips are the same so don't expect these tips to be fool proof although they are in my case.

    1. I prefer natural remedy... I don't want to rely on drugs :) Besides, this happens before Activ Fast Panadol was invented. The old Panadol takes time to work.

    1. Thanks! I'm just sharing my experience. I'm not a doctor, nurse or anything like that though.

  4. Today I sweated it out, when I googled, many sites were against exercise during fever. I wore 4 layers of clothing (t-shirts and jackets), stared warming up, then did skipping for 5 mins (400 nos), then did 40 push-ups and ended with abs exercise. I was sweating like crazy and took hot water bath. I was feeling hungry, had a hot meal without oil or non-veg, then slept for 2 hours. When I woke up I was feeling great. I thank you for the great post for assuring me to do what I wanted.

    1. Hey there, I'm glad to hear it works out for you too :)

I'm just sharing what I usually do when I'm not seriously sick. I'm not a professional but sometimes you just have to listen to your body, you know.

You would probably know when it's just a mild illness and when it's serious. For those who don't know the difference:

If it's annoying but not particularly harmful like sore throat, then it's mild. Sweating it out might work.

If you feel faint and have a hard time just to breathe, or move, it's probably the latter. I don't think it's a good idea to even do light exercise at this point.

But these might differ depends on the individual.

With that said, Mr/Ms Anonymous number 2, I'm curious to how bad it actually is for you when you choose to do this?

  7. Ignorance and stupidity. The body generally knows what it's doing. The immune system has evolved over millions of years. While medicine is rarely necessary to bring down the fever, trying to make yourself even hotter is idiotic.

Yes, I agree. It's dangerous to do this if you have already got the fever.

However, I noticed that I could stop most common illness from happening if I do these quick prevention steps when I start getting the symptoms.

For example, my head usually feels heavy a few days before the fever starts. So before it actually happen, I start drinking lots of water and exercising until I sweat a lot, as soon as possible, for as long as I can stand, as frequently as I could, until, the symptoms go away.

The same steps are taken when I'm about to get a cold. My throat will start to feel a little bit itchy and sore while my eyes start being watery before it happens the next day. And wallah, unless I'm not in the mood for exercises (feeling lazy), these steps work like 100% of the time.

Oh, and I also do this before my period. I didn't keep track of my menstrual cycle (Yes, it's a bad practice and I'm working on fixing it) so my only clue when it's about to happen is that one little zit on my chin and my body gets super cold (especially my leg) or bloating, or diarrhea, or gas problem. So anyway, a sure proof method to prevent painful menstrual weeks is to stay warm as possible BEFORE it happens. Exercise helps if it has already happen but I'm usually too lazy for that.

However, I've never claim to be a medical expert. Everyone has their own special symptoms before getting the cold or fever or both or period (if you're female). Different people might need their own special prevention steps or remedy.

So, please do what I do at your own risk.

  8. I have repeatedly benefitted from similar practice....this time after having a fever , taking correct dose of prescribed drugs - in my part of the world, these are typically anti malaria drugs. In many instances the drugs don't completely finish the job, I help my going through sweaty exercise. Frankly you have to be very careful in applying this ....a lot depends on what caused the fever in the first place. Dysentry, Diarrhoea, etc cannot be cured in this way
