Favicon Walkthrough - Upload Favicon (2/3)

Last month, I need a custom icon (favicon). It was for my other blog, I want to make it look fancy. So I stumbled around the web to find out how to create my own favicon and how to put in my blog on Blogger. It was confusing and I don't remember much what happened during that time but I finally came out victorious.

Finding a Free Host for Favicon

One of my biggest problem was to find out where to host my favicon. Many free blogs like Blogger do not allow you to upload .ICO file. The strange thing is most image hosts like Photobucket do not support .ICO file either! I mean, they host images. Why not host favicon too? It's odd, no?

So, Where Can You Upload Your Favicon for Free?

Luckily, most free web hosting sites allow you to upload favicon. This is exactly what I do because I already have a free website on Webs.com and Google Sites. I haven't look at any other route after that. You can search for more on Search Engines. There are a lot of free website services available online.

If you don't have a free website yet and don't want to sign up for one, you can also try IconJ anonymous favicon hosting service. I haven't use it myself but I've taken time to lurk around the site. Visit IconJ website for details.

Favicon.cc allows you to host your favicon too but it requires you to sign up as member. Not only that, the favicon must be created fully on the site (not imported from your computer) and published under CC (Creative Commons) license. Which means, other people can use your favicon on their sites too. So, I don't recommend hosting your private favicon here unless you don't mind sharing.
