Too neuter or not? Personally, I think killing is better and kinder than neutering them. Tomcats I've seen that have been neutered are sad things to look at. It's like they have nothing more to look forward to in life except eating and dying. Sure, they are tamer and unlikely to create havoc in your place anymore but what's the point?
Would you like your *bit* to be chopped off just because you're too wild? Do you really think that would be more humane if it's applicable to human too? If you really love them, shouldn't you accept them for what they are or just let them go?
But then again, even though it's not encouraged, it's not forbidden either in Islam (according to my sources, look at the bottom of this article).
Subconsciously, I almost think that.. 'Animal don't have mind like us. While we might resent others for doing this to us, animals would probably feel a little bit confused, forget about it and get on with life. No harm done.' But that would be contradicting stories I've heard and read about our previous prophets conversations with animals. It's hard to think of them as something that can think and have feeling sometimes since I can't talk to them like the prophets.
Anyway, in some of the stories, animals have complained about being walked on (ant) or killed (camel) but Allah doesn't stop us from killing or eating them. So I supposed in that sense, this is a similar situation. To eat or not to eat, to kill or not to kill, to neuter or not to neuter... 'Huh, I wonder if animal can get sexually frustrated?' O_o
Before I started writing this post, I thought 'whatever makes you think neuter is more humane?'. Now that I have written this post.. I'm not so sure anymore. Both neutering and killing can be the better option in different situations. So as long the neutering process doesn't harm the animals and the killing is done swiftly without torturing them.... just do what you feel is right in your situation. Whatever you choose, be kind to them.
