Fasting plus Shopping equals?

Mom always get the same things when grocery shopping. I was so tired eating those food, I actually volunteered to go shopping with my mom a few days ago!

Those who know me know that I'm always stuck in my bedroom. I rarely and hardly go out for shopping at all until it's absolutely necessary (there is no more food in the pantry!).

My mom has this tendency to wander into bags and clothes section before buying any groceries. This time is no different.

So as predicted, we went to Bundle Shop first before shopping for groceries. It was hot. After browsing around for awhile, I was already hungry and tired.

Usually by this time, we went to satiate our hunger before continuing. Unfortunately it's Ramadhan. So we went on which is a mistake.

Shopping rule no 1:
Don't go grocery shopping while you're hungry!

It was terrible!

There are food every where in the mall. They look mouth watering. For some reason, the scents are stronger than usual too. It was a cruel torture!

Needless to say, I lost my restrain. I grabbed pretty much everything I like while drooling and fantasizing how it would taste like in my mouth while my mom just indulged me. She said it is such a rare occasion for me to come out of the house willingly, so it requires celebration ^^ Bad move on her part~~~

Just look at our list below:
1. FOUR flavors of ice cream!
2. A big bottle of Aloe vera juice
3. A big bottle of Soda
4. Baby butterhead (delicious name for a green vegetable)
5. Yellow cucumber
6. Plain yogurts
7. Various types of cheap breads on sales
8. Other green stuff with unusual names we have never use
9. Various types of fruits
10. Fish.

Normally, we won't be buying these food (the ones in bold) because mom tends to cook the same thing so she buys the same ingredients all the time. Most of the groceries mentioned above is not in her usual list at all. I, on the other hand, would love to experiment (she cook, me eat lol) with as many different flavor as I can.

So that's why I always hold back my desire. Because if I don't, I'd be getting everything in the mall just because I would like to try new stuff. Same goes with cakes in the bakery, chocolates in chocolatier shop, every single menu in a restaurant and so on. So I get very strict with myself about buying and trying unneeded stuff.

But.. but... my mom just has to unleash my wild side *CRIES* and so I pity her wallet today haha ^^

Me - Restrain = ?

So with my restrain gone, we ended up with a choke-full of unnecessary food items in our trolley. Good news to the sellers, bad news for our wallet. Mom was surprised to see the price tag, it was way higher than our usual splurge!

Conclusion

Well, obviously lesson number 1 is DO NOT ever go shopping while you're hungry every again XD But, if we really have to, spend as little time as possible in there. The sooner we get out, the less temptations it will be. Better buy the important ones first and grab the rests on another day (which is easier said than done).

I wonder if it's possible to stock up a full month supply before fasting season start. Then we don't need to go out at all to buy food and that reduce the risk of overspending on food ever again.
