I'm exploring for healthy raw food recipes that suits my taste buds right now. Sure, I could eat fruits all day, everyday.. but that would turn me into fruitarian. I kinda miss veggies and meats or more specifically potatoes but I have yet to find any recipe that tastes good and needs local ingredients only.
My first test was on Carrot Juice. My usual Carrot Juice contains a lot of Milk and Sugar which tastes awesome. Without those additions, Milk and Sugar, however... It tastes too much like Grass or Plant.
Then I tried Zuchini Rolls which are finger food made from Zuchini, Lemon, Olive Oil, Garlic, Basil, and Oregano. The Zuchini is cut into flat thin strip and then marinated with Oil made from Lemon, Olive Oil and the spices. It's... not terrible but it tastes like, nothing but Lemon and Garlic. Okay, so I didn't put the spices because I don't have them. So that might be the reason why it doesn't taste good as it should be, other than not measuring the ingredients properly :P
The next on the list was Tomato. It is a very popular veggie, maybe the most popular among raw eaters, vegetarian, even the non vegetarian. Some people even eat it like snack or add Tomato in every meal they had. So I was quite annoyed to find out that, unlike them, I can't stand the taste of Raw Tomato at all. I find it to be extremely off putting that I would puke if I force myself to eat it. Even Lemon that can turn anything to taste good (or so they claimed) can only make it slightly more palatable. I didn't even like Tomato Sauce but it grew on me but Raw Tomato? That might take longer to get used too.
I can eat Raw Tomato if I eat it with something else like Fried Rice which is not an option right now. I wonder what I can substitute Fried Rice with. There are a lot of recipes that use Tomato as the main ingredients though. I think that can considered as eating Raw Tomato with something else, so I decided to try Raw Tomato Soup. I like Soup ^^
Ingredients: 3 Tomatoes, 3 Cloves of Garlic, 2 Onions, half of a Medium Sized Carrot, a pinch of Powdered White Pepper, I don't remember if I added Salt or not but if I did then a pinch of Salt, and 1 or 2 squeezes of Lemon... That's all of it, I think..
I chopped all ingredients to reasonable size to be processed in my small blender. Then put them all in the blender and processed until smooth.
I kinda mixed and matched the recipes because I don't have some of the original ingredient so I guess it's not surprising it failed the taste test. Well, it's not exactly a failure because my mom like it. She added some Yogurt though because it was too spicy (I like it spicy). If my mom like it, that mean the food is usually good *shrug* I guess it's just not my taste.
But I think, the problem with this recipe is I might have added more Garlic than I should. I like Garlic, it's spicy and taste good but if used too much, the smell can be overpowering and taste bitter. I don't like that. On the other hand, if I don't add enough Garlic, the strange sour taste of a Raw Tomato will overwhelm my senses and make me throw up... :P Need to work on the balance.
I should stick with Salad but... I don't like Salad unless it's a Fruit Salad only or mixed with Mayonnaise. Hmm... maybe I should start searching for the right dressing instead.
Edited:
O_O I didn't know Zucchini and Cucumber are two different veggies!
