Open Ended Question

I noticed that most of the time, my conversation becomes one-sided. Whenever a topic caught my interest, me and my partner would suddenly play 21 Question Game except I'm the only one asking. This tendency of mine is not that bad. I actually don't mind it at all as I got my questions answered quickly. Though I hate it when people do it to me.

Anyway, by the end of that conversation there are only two things that would happen. I don't quite remember but I think it's either they become uncomfortable or very interested to talk more. Hehehe... I like it when the latter happens. You just don't know what you're gonna learn next.

Here's one great video called Interesting Conversation Made Easy. I like the tips.

One of the tactics mentioned is Asking Open Ended Question. I wonder how often I actually use it in my conversation. I am still a bit confused about the meaning of open ended question so I'm glad to find some examples from this Article by MediaCollege.com. I'm still not sure how I'm gonna find out about my tendencies though.

Examples of Closed-Ended Question
Do you get on well with your boss?
Who will you vote for this election?
What colour shirt are you wearing?

Examples of Open-Ended Question
Tell me about your relationship with your boss.
What do you think about the two candidates in this election?
That's an interesting coloured shirt you're wearing.

I think I use both.... but how come I often feel like I'm doing an interrogation during a conversation? Is it because I'm the only one asking question?

Huh, so.. okay, that kind of hurt. I mean does that mean I am not interesting enough for them to ask about me, or is it just because I'm too pushy so the conversation always ends up about them?

I have a feeling that it begins with the former reason and thus ends with the latter.
